Youth EmployAbility

roster-young-people

TFMP’s NEET EmployAbility project aims to understand the barriers to employment faced by young people, employers and training suppliers. The initial stage of the project will be action research into barriers to employment for young people in the Shard End and Washwood Heath wards in Eastern Birmingham. Our research will also engage with employers to try and understand what prevents them from employing young NEETS. We will be publishing the findings of our action research, along with recommendations that we hope will contribute to shaping the NEET policy agenda.

The action research stage of the project will inform the creation of a workable delivery model tailored to the needs of the young people and employers involved in the project. We hope to create appropriate employment and training opportunities for 16-24 year old NEETs and to address the skills needs of local employers.

The project will use TFMP’s Blended Solution process to bring together public, private and third sector parties to ensure young people are able to sustain employment and training. This will be a collaborative approach to tackling youth unemployment, with involvement from employers, local delivery partners and local colleges, as well as the support of a steering group that includes local councillors to help drive the project forwards.
