The Future Melting Pot has developed an innovative and imaginative engagement process that blends the public, private, third and community sectors to arrive at lasting solutions across society, with a particular focus on young people. The Blended Solution Model produces social impact tailored to local environments and specific social needs.
By commissioning an engagement process using this model, or by participating in one commissioned by a local authority or other agency, businesses can harness untapped potential and better understand the communities and markets in which they operate.
At the heart of any social enterprise is the mission to improve and make a difference in the lives of the individuals who use the service. This makes them ideal vehicles for the delivery of the new priorities placed upon local authorities by the Social Value Act of 2012. The Act establishes that public services should be provided with a view to bringing social value to the community. In this context, social enterprises are becoming ever more important to fulfilling the goal of high quality services which deliver real social benefit.
The Blended Solution Model is a unique approach to community engagement which focuses on establishing and facilitating interfaces between a variety of leaders, stakeholders and deprived, under-engaged or under-represented communities. Working with representatives from the private and public sectors, plus the voluntary sector and academia, TFMP enables project and process design through a series of consultative meetings with separate Steering and Stakeholder Groups established specifically for the purpose.
At all stages of the process, which proceeds from Project Design to Consultation through to Research, Feedback and Final Reporting, TFMP manages and co-ordinates a constant conversation between all relevant stakeholders, leaders and communities. At each stage, we share, assess and refine strategies in order to achieve optimum influence.
This authentic consultation, carried out by experts with years of experience in interfacing between sectors, cultures and social groups, helps create a platform from which to tackle previously intractable problems. There is a focus upon resolving trust issues and improving cross-community communication strategies.
The process offers a means of defining questions, obtaining answers, and devising solutions which fit local topography whilst providing stability and assured success. The report produced enables decision-makers not just to produce informed, evidence-based policy, but to make otherwise under-engaged communities integral both to policy formulation and implementation.
Following the production of a final report into the social needs under investigation, business cases and models are produced which provide the opportunity to obtain the sustainable investment necessary to long-term change. By including all relevant sectors, stakeholders and social groups in the process, the resulting pitch for funding is immeasurably improved, both in terms of its evidenced foundations and future prospects for success.
